Golden Star
This is Chrysogonum, commonly called "Golden Star", yet another in our vast array of roadside weeds. I found this one alongside the Wilderness park road filled with water after an overnight rain. The actual "flowers" are in the center as you can see better in the second photo. These are in the Composite (Daisy) family considered by botanists to be the most advanced plant family.
